Thank you for visiting our website! seriously.hooked.up is a community craft collective that brings people together who share a passion for yarn and fibre crafts. We run a number of weekly and fortnightly social sessions across Lancashire. Our socials are open to anyone who has a passion for crochet, knitting, weaving, spinning (or any other yarn or fibre based craft) and also those wishing to learn or improve! It's important to understand that our social sessions are NOT LESSONS. We are very happy to teach crochet at all levels from basic to advanced and various knitting techniques (just ask), we can also get you started on a spinning wheel or drop spindle, we can offer an introduction to basic weaving on a rigid heddle loom and can offer support with many other crafts, but, during our social sessions, we can only do this INFORMALLY. If you wish to learn about a specific skill it is best to let us know in advance so we can prepare and bring the necessary equipment, but do bear in mind that we will be running our social session at the same time, so it’s best to bring something else with you to work on in case we can't free up our time. That said, there are many very experienced knitters, crocheters, spinners, weavers and more at all of our sessions who would be willing to assist with any yarn & fibre craft queries if we're otherwise occupied.
Entry to our sessions currently costs £5 per two hour session. This fee is to help cover the cost of the venue hire and includes, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, biscuits and as much knowledge and inspiration as you need. seriously.hooked.up is a non profit organisation, so any money left over goes back into making our sessions and workshops better.
Our yarn & fibre craft socials are now well established in Kirkham, Lytham, Warton, Blackpool (Staining) and Central Lancashire (Penwortham). New members are made welcome by a friendly group of people of all ages with varied backgrounds and from many walks of life. In addition to our social sessions, previous workshops have included needle felting, yarn dyeing, macrame, sock knitting, pom pom making and beginners crochet.
A little bit about us…
My name is Anthony, and along with seriously.hooked.up co-founder and my best friend Angela, we run the seriously.hooked.up social sessions at all venues. My husband Paul helps out at socials when needed and joins us to support any workshops we run. In addition to seriously.hooked.up, we run Longridge Alpacas, owning and taking care of six alpacas and eight sheep. We also all work full-time, so you can imagine, we are somewhat busy individuals!
My area of expertise is teaching advanced crochet skills, I also teach beginners spinning. I can turn my hand to most things, but these are definitely my strengths! Right now I am particularly enjoying knitting, especially Fair Isle and I hope to one day design my own patterns. I am a keen crocheter and specialise in blankets. I am a competent spinner and knitter and a novice on the loom - but I’m learning! I have enjoyed macrame, latch hook, punch needle and can also needle felt.
Angela is our beginners crochet teacher, she is able to explain things to absolute beginners in a way that I simply can’t (despite my many attempts!). Angela is always very keen to try new things, there is nothing she can’t turn her hand to. At the moment she is enjoying weaving using a rigid heddle loom and is currently figuring out the complexities of linocut printing. Angela also enjoys (and is very proficient in) spinning, dyeing, crochet and knitting. She is particularly fond of amigurumi and also makes needle felted figures.
Rachel is a very talented yarn and fibre artist, she makes and sells notions, finished items and kits at local farmers markets and also online here. Rachel spins beautifully, weaves, knits, crochets and needle felts (amongst other things). Her work is often the inspiration for group projects and workshops. Rachel's talent and expertise shines through in everything she makes and the beautiful items she produces. She also makes a fantastic hot chocolate!
Paul is a fashion doll fanatic, he also has a passion for 80’s music. He occasionally attends our socials where he makes the drinks and makes people laugh. He doesn’t share our passion for yarn and fibre but can make a mean pom pom! He doesn’t like making Horlicks, so please ask for a Horlicks at every available opportunity when he’s on brew duty.
